Objectives
- Provide consortium partners with selected and purified carbon nanotubes (CNTs)
- Fabricate doped hybrid materials based on polymer hosts with (a) CNT and (b) inorganic nanoparticle guests
- Assess thermoelectric parameters of hybrids, focus on the relative host-guest energy levels, preventing guest-only percolating pathways and controlled doping including ion exchange
- Measure thermal conductivity of selected hybrid systems
Expected results
- Design rules for hybrid thermoelectrics w.r.t. energetics, loading, morphology, doping level
- Effective doping method(s) for hybrid materials
- Novel, high-performance hybrid thermoelectric materials
Skills acquired
- Designing, fabricating, measuring and analyzing multicomponent electronic materials
- Interdisciplinary communication
