Map ESR Project 2

Objectives

  • Provide consortium partners with selected and purified carbon nanotubes (CNTs)
  • Fabricate doped hybrid materials based on polymer hosts with (a) CNT and (b) inorganic nanoparticle guests
  • Assess thermoelectric parameters of hybrids, focus on the relative host-guest energy levels, preventing guest-only percolating pathways and controlled doping including ion exchange
  • Measure thermal conductivity of selected hybrid systems

Expected results

  • Design rules for hybrid thermoelectrics w.r.t. energetics, loading, morphology, doping level
  • Effective doping method(s) for hybrid materials
  • Novel, high-performance hybrid thermoelectric materials

Skills acquired

  • Designing, fabricating, measuring and analyzing multicomponent electronic materials
  • Interdisciplinary communication
